DC-Call Control is the component of the DC-ATM stack responsible for establishing and controlling calls with remote ATM nodes. It can be used to provide this function in any ATM stack.
The product is richly specified including
- support for Switched Virtual Connections, Permanent Virtual Connections, and Soft Permanent Virtual Connections
- fault tolerance capabilities that allow for switching over to a backup stack in the event of failure without the loss of connections
- full integration with the SNMP MIBs to allow configuration and management of connections
- full support for all ATM signalling versions and for DSS2

DC-Call Control includes exit points in the core code to allow OEMs to provide value-add services to the base functionality. For example, such exit points allow the customisation of
- enhanced functions during call setup
(using OEM-specific IEs in SETUP and ADD PARTY messages)
- additional information
passed between Call Control, Switch Fabric Control,
Routing Services, and Address Translator during CAC and
Routing processing
- division of MIB indexes between
SVCs and PVCs
- matching of traffic parameters on
a received SETUP to the configured parameters for PVCs during
Soft PVC establishment
- passing configuration parameters to and from the Switch Fabric Control process.
Functions and Features
This section describes the full set of functions provided by DC-Call Control. Flexible licensing options are available, restricting the range of supported functions to fit the functional requirements of the system being constructed.

- Fault tolerance failover to a backup copy of DC-Call Control without loss of PVCs using replication of MIB data *
Licensing Options
Flexible licensing options are available to fit the functional requirements of the system being constructed. For example, a system that does not require PVCs would not need to license that function.
The following sections show some of the licensing options which our customers often select. We are able to change the licensing terms to suit particular needs, for example, we are happy to license SVC and PVC support for UNI 3.0, 3.1 and 4.0 only.
- SVCs Only
Many systems do not require support for PVCs or Soft PVCs. DC-Call Control can be licensed to support only SVCs- with signalling support for UNI 3.0, UNI 3.1, IISP 3.0 or IISP 3.1 (as in Version 1.0 of the product)
- with full signalling support including UNI 4.0 and PNNI (as in Version 2.0 of the product)
-
and SNMP MIB visibility of SVCs
- PVCs Only
Conversely the target system may require only PVCs. A restricted license for DC-Call Control Version 3.0 is available that disallows SVCs and Soft PVCs. - Full VC Support
The standard license for DC-Call Control Version 3.0 includes full support for SVCs and PVCs, and the infrastructure to support Soft PVCs. For full Soft PVC support, DC-SPVC must also be licensed. - Fault Tolerance Support
Fault Tolerance support is integral to the main product code, but to take advantage of it for SVCs and Soft PVCs, DC-FTM must also be licensed.
