Data Connection Announces DC-MeetingServer Version 2.0, Major New Release of Web-Conferencing Server

New release of web-conferencing server simplifies deployment and use, and provides Service Providers with a compelling alternative to outsourcing

London, UK: March 18, 2003. Data Connection Limited (DCL) today announced the release of Version 2.0 of DC-MeetingServer, DCL's web-conferencing solution for Service Providers and their suppliers.

DC-MeetingServer Version 2.0 builds on the success of DC-MeetingServer Version 1.3 and DCL's other messaging and conferencing solutions for Service Providers, with customers including BT, Latitude, eRoom and General Dynamics. It is targeted at Service Providers wishing to host their own web-conferencing service, either for the first time or as a replacement for an outsourced service.

DC-MeetingServer Version 2.0 provides already-proven implementations of web presentations, application sharing and whiteboarding. The enhancements for Version 2.0 greatly simplify deployment and use, and hence increase return on investment.

  • The web user interface has been re-designed to make it immediately attractive and easy for users to host meetings, thereby minimizing the Service Provider's training and support costs.
  • Conference scheduling has been simplified and can be readily integrated with an existing reservationless audio-conferencing system, including integration with any web-based audio-conferencing console.
  • Branding and deployment have been streamlined to make it easy and quick to integrate with a Service Provider's billing systems. DCL's Professional Services team can assist with this process of deployment.

"DCL has years of experience in providing core data conferencing technology and now they've done a great job on simplifying the user interface for DC-MeetingServer 2.0," said Andy Nilssen, Sr Analyst & Partner, Wainhouse Research. "When users see Version 2.0 for the first time, they will feel immediately confident that they can run a successful web conference. The implementation is smooth, stable, and well designed, resulting in a tool people will want to use. Service Providers or large enterprises that want to host their own web conferencing service should take a serious look at DCL and DC-MeetingServer."

Graeme MacArthur, VP of DCL's Internet Applications Group, said "Web conferencing is a strategic area of opportunity for the industry right now - in the current economic climate, companies are looking to reduce travel costs yet improve productivity, and service providers are looking to offer new services that can yield revenue. After 15 years in the field of conferencing and groupware collaboration, we have an unrivaled combination of expertise and technology to enable our customers to pursue this opportunity, and DC-MeetingServer Version 2.0 is a key element in that strategy."

DC-MeetingServer Version 2.0 is available now to Service Providers and their suppliers.
