The Motif 5250 emulation program provides a wide range of features for communications with AS/400 systems.
Each user may have a number of sessions (limited only by the available system resources), used for:
- 5250/5251 display emulation, including support for monochrome or color operation and large screen model (27 x 132)
- SNA Character String (SCS) printer emulation.
Multiple sessions appear as separate windows and can be viewed simultaneously. A Motif session control window allows the user to activate and deactivate sessions.
The program supports a range of single-byte and double-byte host languages, including right-to-left languages.
Local copy printing is supported (both host-initiated and locally-initiated).
File transfer, similar to PC Support/400 and Client Access/400, is available using a separate command-line interface.
Customisation of the emulation display is provided using a text style file. The user can:
- modify the screen color and highlighting or the keyboard mapping
- specify the host language
- define frequently-used sequences of keystrokes which can be replayed as required.
