Dependent LU Requester (DLUR), working in conjunction with the mainframe's Dependent LU Server (DLUS), provides the facility to route sessions for dependent LUs across an APPN network. This feature allows old LU traffic, such as LU0 or 3270 applications, to use an Enterprise Extender link.
Existing applications using dependent LUs can be retained without modification, while taking advantage of APPN's network management, dynamic resource location, and route selection capabilities.
A group of
downstream PU2 systems are attached to a SNAP-IX node,
and are using DLUR on this node (in conjunction with DLUS on
the host) to communicate with the host across the APPN network.
