Many enterprises use IBM/Tivolis NetView Distribution Manager to manage and distribute files and software to their remote outlets. These outlets are increasingly using server PCs and/or client PCs running Windows.
Data Connections NetView/Distribution Manager Agent (NDM-A) product allows them to continue to use the IBM NetView Distribution Manager product at the head office and communicate with their outlet PCs in a familiar, well proven manner. The NDM-A product requires the Windows PC to be running the Microsoft Back Office Host Integration Server product or the IBM eNetwork Communications Server for Windows. The majority of the core SNA technology in the Microsoft Host Integration Server product was developed by Data Connection.
NDM-A communicates with NetView DM to provide the following functions:
- retrieve file to the host
- send file to the PC
- create file
- delete file
- send operator message.
NDM-A supports restart of a failed transmission from the point of failure.
NDM-A runs under the Windows Server 2000, XP, or Server 2003 operating systems, allowing users to bring all their PCs into the network irrespective of the operating system used. Users of NDM-A include First Tennessee Bank in the USA, Darty in France and the Stop & Shop group of companies in the USA.
The UNIX implementation of NDM-A is included in the SNAP-IX product.
