2.2 Starting 5250 Emulation

Start the 5250 emulation program by typing the following at the Solaris command prompt:

xsna5250 [-s [/path/] user_style_file] [-display display_name] [-lang language]

The option loads the specified style file. You can only use this option if your System Administrator has configured permission for you to use a user style file. For more information about permissions to use and modify style files, see 5250 Style Files. If you include , it must be followed by a style file name (with or without a .stx extension, and with or without a directory path).

If you specify a path, the program tries to open the file in the directory given; if no path is given, the file is assumed to be in the current directory. If you do not specify a style file, the emulation program uses the administration style file (in the /etc/opt/sna directory) configured in the administration information. For more information, see Specifying the Style File.

The option is the standard X11 command-line option for setting which X display server the program will use. The value specified here overrides the existing setting of the DISPLAY environment variable. For more information about this option, refer to your X11 documentation.

The option overrides the existing setting of the LANG environment variable . This must be set to a valid LANG setting for your system.

When the 5250 emulation starts, the first window to appear is the session control window. This window is described in Session Control Window.
