The Web administration program provides a user-friendly interface for configuring SNAP-IX. It guides you through the configuration process and minimizes the information you need to provide to create a workable configuration.
You can also use the Web administration program to manage the SNAP-IX system while it is active. The administration program enables you to make and apply changes to the configuration while SNAP-IX is active. You can add, modify, and remove resources (in most cases, even when the node and its resources are active), and use the modified configuration immediately for continued operation.
Alternatively, you can use SNAP-IX commands for configuration and system management. A summary of configuration and management commands is provided in Using the Command-Line Administration Program.
Before starting the Web administration program, ensure the following:
The SNAP-IX software is enabled (for more information, see Administering SNAP-IX).
The Web server software is running on the SNAP-IX server (for more information, refer to the documentation for your Web server software).
To use the Web administration program, load the following URL in your browser:
http://server_name/SnaAdmin/
Replace server_name with the TCP/IP host name of the SNAP-IX server.
The program displays a logon screen. Enter the Solaris user ID and password that you use to log on to the Solaris system in order to use other SNAP-IX administration functions.
SNAP-IX then displays the main window of the program, as shown in Web Administration Program Main Window. In a client/server environment, each node in the SNAP-IX domain is listed.
This section uses the term window to describe browser windows that display information about SNAP-IX resources. A window can contain one or more sections, or panes. A dialog is a window on which you can enter information.
When the main window first appears, the display is contracted so that
the node's connectivity resources are not shown. You can click on the Expand button 
next to the node to show its connectivity resources, or click on the Contract button 
to hide them. When you have expanded the display, the connectivity resources
are shown as in Web Administration Program Connectivity Resources.
For each item listed, resources that belong to that item are nested within the information for that item. For example, link stations are grouped under the port to which they belong.
The left-hand toolbar in the main window allows you to access different SNAP-IX resources: independent LUs, TPs, security resources, and so on. Click on an entry in the toolbar to view and manage each type of resource.
You can expand and contract the display in each window in the same way as for the connectivity resources.
Tool bar buttons at the top of the Web administration program window make it easy to perform common functions.
Not all buttons appear in the tool bars of each resource window. If a button's operation is not valid for the currently selected item (or an operation requires an item to be selected, but none is), the button is displayed in gray, and the function cannot be selected (the button cannot be pressed). For example, you cannot start a resource if it is already running.
The following buttons can appear on resource windows:
Click on the Refresh button to update the Web administration program's display to match the latest information available in the configuration file.
You can also set the program to refresh the information automatically at intervals, using the Options button.
Click on the Start button to start the selected item.
Click on the Stop button to stop the selected item.
Click on the New button to add a new resource item.
Click on the Delete button to delete the selected item.
Click on the Properties button to view or modify the selected item's configuration.
Click on the Copy button to copy the selected item's configuration. Pressing this button opens a dialog whose fields duplicate the configuration of the selected item. Complete the dialog's fields (filling in the new item's name) to add the new item.
Select the local node and click on the Diagnose button to control diagnostics for the node. (This button is grayed if the node is not selected.)
Click on the Options button to set up options that determine how the Web administration program operates. For example, you can set it up to refresh the display at intervals so that it matches the latest available information in the configuration file, and specify the time interval between refreshes; or you can set it up so that it only refreshes when you explicitly request this by clicking on the Refresh button.
Click on the Help button to display help information about the selected item.
Click on the Logoff button to disconnect the program from the SNAP-IX server. This allows you to leave the program running but not displaying details of the configuration.
The program also disconnects from the server when you close your browser, or when you browse to a new Web page that is not part of the Web administration program.
When you add a new item or modify an existing one, a resource dialog shows the current configuration information for the resource. A sample dialog for an LU of types 0-3 is shown in Sample Dialog.
Resource dialogs guide you through the configuration process and supply default values whenever possible. If you do not supply a required value, the program presents a message pop-up that indicates the information you need to provide.
Most dialogs provide a Description field; the information you enter there is displayed on the window where the resource is displayed.
If you are permitted to change the information in a resource dialog (when you are adding a new item or modifying an existing one), the dialog includes OK and Cancel buttons. Press the OK button when you are finished, or the Cancel button to exit without changing the configuration for the resource.
If you cannot change the information in a resource dialog (for example if the resource's configuration cannot be modified while it is active), the dialog includes a Close button instead of an OK button. Click this button when you are finished viewing the information in the dialog.
