4.3 Locating an ANAME Alias Using the ANAMED Target Program

When you specify a valid ANAME alias as the destination name on the command line, the application (AFTP, ACOPY, APING, AREXEC, or ATELL ) tries to connect to the target program for ANAME (ANAMED). To establish a successful connection, you must have already created a side information record and specified ANAMED as the symbolic destination name. The side information record contains the FQPLU name on which the ANAMED target program is running.

If you did not create this side information record, the application is unable to locate the ANAMED target program and, therefore, is unable to locate the partner LU. If the application is able to locate the ANAMED target program but the ANAME alias is not associated with an LU, the application is also unable to locate the partner LU.
