C.2 Controlling Tracing on Windows Clients

On a Windows client, SNAP-IX provides facilities for API tracing, 3270 message tracing, and client-server tracing. Options in the Registrycontrol all of these trace types. For more information, refer to the SNAP-IX Administration Guide.

The format of each of these trace types is the same as for components on Solaris computers (for more information, see Client-Server Tracing, Trace File Format for API Tracing).

SNAP-IX does not provide tracing facilities for 5250 emulation programs or for HLLAPI applications on Windows clients. However, because 5250 data is transferred using APPC, you can use APPC API tracing on the client to trace the data sent from a 5250 emulation program to the node (for more information, refer to the SNAP-IX Administration Guide). Additional tracing facilities may be provided with the 5250 or 3270 emulation software; refer to the documentation supplied with the program for more information.
