2 Installing SNAP-IX Client Software on Windows Clients

The SNAP-IX Windows client software enables a PC to run SNA applications without having a complete SNA stack installation on the PC. A Windows client PC can connect to one or more SNAP-IX servers using a TCP/IP network.

The interfaces provided by the SNAP-IX Windows client software are compatible with those provided by the Microsoft SNA Server for Windows NT product. Therefore, many applications can be used with SNAP-IX Windows client software, including:

The SNAP-IX Windows Client Software Development Kit (SDK) is an additional package that allows you to use the Windows Client to develop application programs using the APPC, CPI-C, LUA, and CSV APIs. Refer to the appropriate programmer's reference guide for more information about these APIs. You do not need to install this package if the Windows Client will be used only to run existing applications (not to develop new ones).
