SNAP-IX includes two separate APIs for developing Solaris applications to communicate with LU0 applications on an IBM mainframe computer:

The LU0 API is described in SNAP-IX LU0 Programmer's Guide.
You should consider the following points before deciding which API to use.
The LUA API allows you to develop applications that make use of a wide range of SNA features. The LU0 API supports only a restricted set of function.
Before using the LUA API you need to be familiar with the details of SNA communication protocols. The LU0 API hides this complexity and is therefore easier to use.
The LUA API is common to many SNA products. The LU0 API is only available on SNAP-IX.
