Before You Begin

This book is a guide for writing Management Services (MS) applications to use the SNAP-IX MS application programming interface (API).

This book contains the information required to develop C-language application programs that use the MS API to communicate with remote network management applications. It also provides a brief overview of MS concepts and provides detailed reference information for experienced MS programmers.

This book applies to Version 7 of SNAP-IX.

Prerequisite Knowledge

Before you read this guide, you should have a knowledge of the following subjects:

Systems Network Architecture (SNA) and Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking (APPN) concepts (see Related Publications)
The C compiler cc
