1.3 NDMA in a Client-Server System

Because the host programs NetView DM and DSX are designed to communicate with a single computer rather than with a LAN-based system, they do not include facilities for managing files on more than one computer in the SNAP-IX LAN. If NDMA is run from more than one computer in the LAN, the host will not be able to distinguish between different copies of the program.

If you have a SNAP-IX system with multiple Solaris computers, install NDMA on only one Solaris computer (which can be either a server or a client). To allow the host to access directories on other Solaris computers, you can use NFS to share these directories on the other computers and access them from the computer where NDMA is installed.

If you have a SNAP-IX system which communicates with multiple hosts then NDMA may be run multiple times, but each instance of NDMA must communicate with a different host.
