2.3 Host Configuration

This section provides guidelines and suggested values for BIND parameters that can be useful when setting up the host configuration to work with NDMA. It does not provide detailed information about setting up the host configuration, or on Virtual Telecommunications Access Method (VTAM) and the Network Control Program (NCP); for more information, contact your host support personnel or refer to the host system documentation.

2.3.1 VTAM/NCP Considerations

NDMA uses LU 0 protocols to communicate with the host. When setting up the host for communication with NDMA, it is suggested that you use the following BIND parameters:

NDMA only supports RU sizes of up to 256 bytes, and pacing should be used.

2.3.2 NDMA Node Types

The Solaris computer running NDMA should be defined to NetView DM (or DSX) with a node type of POSC, and with a connection type of DIRECT (indicating that there are no intermediate nodes between the host and the Solaris computer).
