2.9 Configuration Information

Configuration information for RJE is stored in two places:

The following components must be specified in the SNAP-IX configuration. For additional information, refer to the SNAP-IX Administration Guide.

DLC, Port, and LS

A DLC (Data Link Control), port, and Link Station (LS) that SNAP-IX can use to communicate with the remote host computer.

LUs

One or more LUs (LU type 0-3) using the LS specified for communication with the host computer. Each LU must have an LU number that matches that of a suitable LU on the host, and all the LUs for a workstation must use the same LS.

RJE Workstations

One or more RJE workstations. Each workstation is configured to run on a particular Solaris computer (which can be either a server or a client). In general, each workstation is configured for use by users in a particular group. The workstation configuration also defines which LUs are used by each workstation.

The following components must be specified in the RJE workstation style file. For additional information, see The RJE Workstation Style File.

Printers and Punches

For each RJE workstation, you can define one or more printers and one or more punches. Each of these specifies a method for processing output data returned from the host; for example, it defines whether the data is converted from EBCDIC to ASCII, and whether it is routed to a file or used as the input to a program or shell script. See Output Processing, for more information.

The host configuration for an RJE workstation includes a number of printer devices, punch devices, or both. The style file should include an equivalent printer or punch to match each host device.

Forms Control Buffers (FCBs)

You can define FCBs to be used with printer devices. Each FCB specifies a page layout used for formatting output data returned from the host; for example, it defines the number of lines on a page, and the vertical margins.

SNAP-IX provides a default FCB definition; you can use this definition as it is, or alter it if you need to use different defaults. You need to add more FCBs only if you need to use different page layouts for different types of output data.
