You can use the RJE console program to view messages produced by the host and to issue commands to the host job entry subsystem. This chapter explains the following tasks:
Checking the terminal setup information for using the program
Starting the console program
Interpreting status line information
Using the console program
Ending the console program
The RJE console program defines a number of keystrokes or keystroke combinations to access functions such as viewing stored information, editing command text, and controlling the program. These keystrokes are listed in Keystrokes Used in the RJE Console Program, and are described with the relevant console program tasks.
In many cases, the program provides more than one keystroke combination to access the same function, because your terminal may not support the most appropriate keystroke for the function. For example, if both your keyboard and your terminal's terminfo database entry include the Home key, you can use this key to move to the start of the stored console information; otherwise you should use Ctrl + A. If you need help in determining whether your terminal supports a particular keystroke, consult your System Administrator.
In some cases, your Solaris terminal may be set up to use keystroke combinations such as Ctrl + A for other functions. These keystrokes are, therefore, not available for use by the console program, so the program may not operate as expected if you use them. Before you use the RJE console program for the first time, you should check the keystroke combinations used by your terminal by typing the following command at the Solaris command prompt:
stty -a
Check the resulting keystroke list against the keystroke combinations described in this chapter to ensure that there are no conflicts. If you need to use a console program function but its keystroke combination is already used by your terminal, change your terminal setup if possible to avoid using this keystroke; consult your System Administrator for assistance if necessary. If you cannot do this, contact your SNAP-IX support personnel.
On some terminal types, you may find that blank areas of the RJE console
screen are not displayed correctly; this generally occurs when the background
color of the terminal is not black (for example, if you are using a text window
on an X terminal). If the screen is not displayed correctly, you can correct
this by setting the
