Appendix C: Migrating from Earlier Versions of SNAP-IX TN3270

This appendix explains how to migrate from an earlier version of SNAP-IX TN3270 to the current version.

C.1 Summary of Migrating from SNAP-IX TN3270 Version 5 to SNAP-IX TN3270 Version 6

When you install SNAP-IX TN3270, the installation procedure automatically looks for an existing configuration text file (/etc/opt/tn3270/com.txt). If the installation procedure finds this file, it automatically runs the tncfgtcp program to convert the existing configuration text file to a Version 6 binary configuration file. If you previously had SNAP-IX TN3270 Version 5 installed and you want to use other existing configuration files with different names or in different directories, run the tncfgtcp program to convert the existing configuration text files to SNAP-IX TN3270 Version 6 binary configuration files. SNAP-IX TN3270 Version 6 will not run any Version 5 or earlier binary configuration files. If you try to run SNAP-IX TN3270 with a Version 5 or earlier binary configuration file, SNAP-IX TN3270 produces an error message telling you that your configuration file is at the wrong level and then terminates the TN3270 program.
