2.2 Menus

Menus are accessed from a menu bar (also called an action bar), which is the starting point for the 3270 emulation program user interface. 3270 Emulation Screen Showing Menu Bar, shows the 3270 emulation program's main screen with the menu bar at the top.

The menu bar contains a number of menus, each of which has one letter (the 'accelerator key') highlighted. The menu name that appears in reverse video is the menu that is currently selected. If no menus are highlighted then none are selected.

2.2.1 Choosing a Menu from the Menu Bar

You can choose a menu using either a mouse or the keyboard. Use the mouse to click on the menu you want, or use the following instructions for using the keyboard.

You can use the keyboard to choose a particular menu from the menu bar in any of the following ways:

2.2.2 Choosing a Menu Item

Each menu contains several menu items. The menu item that is currently selected appears in reverse video. The bottom line of the screen displays information about the selected menu item.

One or more options in the menu may appear in lighter type ('grayed'), indicating that they cannot currently be selected. For more information, see Nonselectable Items.

To choose a particular item from a menu using the keyboard, do one of the following:

If a menu option is followed by an ellipsis (...), a dialog box is displayed when you choose the menu option. For details of how to use dialog boxes, see Dialog Boxes .

If a menu option is not followed by an ellipsis, an action is performed immediately when you choose the menu option.
